The application period is closed. Please check back later.
The Applicant Assistance Program (AAP) helps small businesses apply for Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) funding. Selected small businesses can participate in the program at no cost. Through AAP, companies can receive:
-
Needs assessment/small business mentoring
-
Phase I application preparation support
-
Application review
AAP provides support and guidance, but participating small businesses are responsible for putting together their application and required documentation. More information about the program is available in the archived webinar recording.
Submit your application on the Application Portal.
Eligibility
AAP is open to current and future entrepreneurs developing innovative technology ideas in the healthcare space. One of AAP’s goals is to increase SBIR program participation of individuals who are traditionally underrepresented in the biomedical sciences and own or control businesses. Therefore, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is particularly interested in applications from socially/economically disadvantaged small businesses, women-owned small businesses, and small businesses located in under-represented states. Entrepreneurs should have technologies that align with the research topics of one of the NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs). See below for the list of participating ICs and their points of contact:
